About Nick DeCourcy

Owner and Principal Consultant at Bright Ideas Agency

Nick is passionate about the value embracing technology can add to businesses, making them more efficient, productive, and inclusive, engaging places to work. He has taken a journey from behind the scenes at London theatres to operations leadership in a series of prestigious organizations in the UK and US. He has now turned his ever-present technology focused side passion into his singular path as he seeks to help businesses transform for the digital age.

Over a 20-year career, Nick has been involved in a dizzying variety of projects, worked in organizations across industries and scaling from five employees to five thousand. As a trained theatre professional, he designed for shows in London’s West End before finding his way into education management. He was part of the team that helped to make an East London high school a specialist performing arts college and led the way in integrating access to cutting edge technology into the arts curriculum. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art he brushed shoulders with Britain’s stage and screen elite while building new sources of revenue, including establishing a technical consulting practice hired by the UK government to provide training across North Africa and the Middle East. At Sheffield Hallam University, the third largest higher education provider in England, he led the development of commercial revenue streams across a multi-campus organization accessed by tens of thousands of people daily. There he remodeled “auxiliary services” to focus on entrepreneurship and innovation from all levels of staff, visiting organizations such as Google and the BBC to learn new approaches and best practices. At the Taft Museum of Art, he led the renovation of a 200-year-old National Historic Landmark building, bringing together stakeholders across disciplines to plan a $12.7m project supported by two prestigious federal government grants to upgrade everything from security and safety systems to the physical structure of the building.

Moving his focus to Bright Ideas Agency is the culmination of a journey where Nick has been involved with technology at every level, learning the impacts, positive and negative, it can have on projects, processes, and organizational culture. He brings his wealth of operational experience to bear in supporting businesses to plan and implement technology focused projects that deliver positive results for leaders, their teams, and customers alike.

Nick is originally from London, England, but moved to the US in 2013 alongside his wife, Kelly. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where he specialized in sound and lighting design. He is Microsoft certified in a range of technologies including Microsoft Teams and the Power Platform. He currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife, his baby son, Basil, and four pet chickens.
