Why AI Skills Are Becoming the New Job‑Search Superpower
One of the fantastic opportunities of AI technology is how universally applicable its help is to the wide variety of data and reasoning challenges we run into. While you might use Microsoft 365 Copilot in the office, Microsoft Copilot can be just as helpful to your personal goals.
Last night, I was invited by Paul DiPronio, MBA to speak with the North Coast Job Seekers group on how AI is impacting the workplace, and in what ways tools like Microsoft Copilot can help with job search.
This is a perfect audience for AI skills development. According to Microsoft research, 71% are prioritizing candidates with AI-related skills, and LinkedIn's data showed a 2x uptick in AI skills being shown on profiles as of 2024. Increasingly, job seekers are competing where AI skills are an important differentiator.
But on top of that, AI skills can also be a practical benefit to the process of job search. Helping to rework resumes and cover letters. Matching job postings to your skills. And helping with interview preparation.
We may not agree on how AI will ultimately change our relationships to work, but we can probably all agree that AI is already starting to change a lot of workplaces. Building that understanding and new skills can only be a solid preparation for those changes.
