Copilot in the Open: The Future of AI Collaboration in Microsoft Teams

Collaborating with Microsoft 365 Copilot and others in Microsoft Teams marks a logical evolution of this product onward toward what might be its final form as an ever-present digital colleague.

It makes me wonder whether all the focus on Copilot Chat should have just been a chat with Copilot in Teams all along. This feels like a more logical and natural place to collaborate, whether with Copilot, with agents, with colleagues, or with all of the above.

Will this new multi-user experience change how we use Copilot?

I think just as some of our best human collaboration happens when it is done in an open forum, it's possible some of our best AI collaboration will follow the same path. A Copilot that is part of a group may well find its footing as a better work partner than it ever could working behind closed doors.

I've seen some raise data concerns about this change, but they relate to exactly the same types of problems we've been talking about now for the last 30 months. If you've done good data preparation, that should continue to pay dividends as we move into this new phase of what our relationship with Copilot looks like.
