A Simple Trick for Sharing Custom Summaries in Microsoft 365 Copilot for Teams
So far, the new Custom Summaries feature for Microsoft 365 Copilot users in Teams seems to have gotten a lot of positive feedback. This is the type of capability a lot of users have been waiting for.
But one consistent concern: Template management. And particularly the idea of having standardized templates for custom summaries across organizations or teams.
As of yet, there's no built-in way to manage templates beyond your individual user, but I have found there is a really easy way to share templates and add them to your available options in Teams.
Under your Recordings folder in OneDrive there is now a new folder called CustomSummaryTemplates. These are simple JSON files that just hold the instructions you added in Teams and named for whatever name you gave to your template.
If you take one of these files from User A and drop it into the same location for User B, then that template will turn up as an option under Custom Summaries for User B.
Not a full-fledged sharing mechanism, but a start.
Bear in mind though that this is a preview feature, and the backend workings of preview capabilities often evolve over time. This is a little unusual a way for these assets to be held, so I wouldn't be surprised if this changed (there isn't, for example, a corollary for your Agent Builder agents or saved prompts), but for now, it works.
