Small Acts of Support, Big Business Impact: Five Years of Bright Ideas Agency
Yesterday, I dropped off some paperwork at my accountant's office. On the table in his tiny two-seat waiting area, on top of the usual reading material, was a copy of my book, "Who's in the Copilot's Seat?"
I don't know how long it had been there, or whether it was set out because he knew I was coming. Either way, it definitely sparked some joy to see it so unexpectedly.
Bright Ideas Agency turns five next week, and moments of support like this have come up more often than I expected. Sometimes they have been much bigger, such as one of my earliest clients from outside my immediate circle coming from an MSP owner who referred one of his own customers to me just a few days after initially connecting. Before I started my own business, I had no idea how important help like this from others, in big and small ways, would truly be.
Those actions to put someone's business in front of others or to make the referral without even being asked are what matters most. Your brother-in-law's friend randomly mentions a problem, and you think of the business owner you know who fixes exactly that. Passing their name along takes a minute. For someone building a small business, it can be the next step in turning that business from ambition to reality.
So, if someone you know is building something, put their book on the table. Pass their name along. It gets noticed more than you'd think.
