Flow Builder Agent Arrives in Microsoft 365 Copilot Frontier Program
A new Flow Builder agent is coming to the Frontier program for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users, allowing the creation of a variety of automations built using an easy chat interface.
The range of automation-focused features being added into Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses is amazing - just a couple of weeks ago, I published a video considering whether having a Copilot license is now the new sweet spot for makers (linked in the comments), and new capabilities just keep on coming.
I'm yet to be hands on with this new capability, but I hope it integrates well into the automation tools (Power Automate/Agent Flows) that already exist in this space. It's great to get new routes in, but it can be confusing where there are big differences, and it can make it hard to scale out when solutions are successful and grow in need (we already see this with there being no growth path from Copilot Studio Lite to Copilot Studio).
The question on my mind though is whether there is actually a good overlap between the ideal audience for Microsoft 365 Copilot and custom-built (no matter how simple) automation needs. Many Copilot users express the desire for greater out-of-the-box autonomy, and generally the audience for prebuilt furniture isn't the same as avid IKEA shoppers.
I'll be really interested to try this out when it becomes available in one of my tenants, but depending on how it works and integrates, I'll reserve judgement on whether it will change the advice I'd give a user who is looking to get started with simple automation.
