Microsoft 365 Copilot Brings AI Video Creation to All Licensed Users

Copilot-based video creation in the Create tab is coming to all users with a Microsoft 365 license and access to Copilot Chat.

In a world focused on Sora (and its impact both on social media and on our perception of reality), Microsoft's video experience in Create is fundamentally different, and, for many business purposes, probably significantly more appropriate.

This uses a prompt, and optionally some context such as a Word document, to construct a video using slides, curated stock footage, and AI-generated audio to build something that is likely much more aligned and much safer than just raw generation of video with AI using a model like Sora.

For purposes such as turning a PowerPoint deck into a training video, this is a perfect tool. You just have to know that you're not going to be making yourself a blockbuster movie or even any slop for YouTube Shorts of Instagram Reels with this tool.

Again, for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, this is a good addition, but keeping track of what the difference is between the base Copilot Chat license and the full M365 Copilot license is becoming harder. Is there still $30 pupm of value there? I believe so. But depending on your need, Copilot Chat does grant you an increasingly rich set of features.

This change will be coming mid-November, see MC1171840 for more information.
