Meet the People Agent: Connecting Expertise Across Your Organization

The new People Agent is coming to the Frontier Program for Microsoft 365 Copilot users, allowing those in larger organizations to more easily navigate organizational structure and expertise to have the right interactions with the right people to get things done.

Coming to public preview this month, and expected to move to general release in January, the People Agent will offer a new interface to information you already have access to in your involvement. It will provide an interactive view of your organization along with meeting prep opportunities and topic maps focusing on your last 28-days of activity. It can also help you find other people in your directory with the skills you are looking for.

On the one hand, innovations like this often give some big Delve energy. That was the now deprecated Microsoft 365 tool that allows you to navigate a "people view" of the content you had access to, but many users never really got over that getting a neat view of oversharing might be somewhat shocking. On the other, in this age of agents everywhere, one that places the focus on human expertise rather than AI expertise is a change of pace. There is clearly though the opportunity to inject information about agentic workers into these types of experiences in the future.
