Context IQ in Microsoft 365 Copilot Expands to Teams Channels
Context IQ in Microsoft 365 Copilot is expanding to Teams Channels.
Over the last few months, we have seen Context IQ, the easy tool for prompt grounding from Microsoft 365 data, expand greatly. We have existing access to Files, Emails, People, Meetings, Sites, and even Other content like Power BI data. Channels add yet another option for you to funnel down your context source without having to be totally specific.
When Microsoft 365 Copilot released nearly two years ago the implicit promise that being able to see your work data included ALL your work data was pretty limited in its delivery. However, today, for most users, through small additions to this and other tools, Copilot genuinely does have a view into most of what we create and use every day.
Because of Context IQ, the Copilot chat experience is the tool I use most often when I need the help of AI on something that needs to be grounded in specific work data, and because Copilot has semantic understanding of all it can see, this broad access also makes it the best tool when you're not totally sure what you need to refer to.
Copilot Chat (free) users now have a small but recently growing subset of Context IQ options in the chat interface; though free users do not benefit from Copilot having access to the index of data that experience rests upon.
See MC1165054 in Microsoft 365 message center for more information. This update is rolling out now and expected to be complete by late October. Hopefully, by then, the typo in the interface shown in the shared screenshot will be fixed.
