If Claude Is Really in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Why Isn’t It in the Model Picker?

The addition of Claude models to Microsoft 365 Copilot is one of the biggest recent changes to this tool. But there is one important place where I'd like to see Claude but no word on its arrival yet: the model picker in Copilot Chat.

GPT-5.2 is a fantastic model and largely delivers outputs that are of the quality I might expect from Claude Opus 4.5; but the reality is that *if* there is a model picker in Copilot Chat (I'm not sure there should be), it's difficult to justify a headline message of "Claude is available in Microsoft 365 Copilot", if those models don't appear there.

This is largely a psychological rather than technical point, but I do think it's important that different technical updates are represented similarly and equally across the platform. So far as I'm aware, the only place inside the Microsoft 365 Copilot feature set that both Claude and GPT models appear alongside each other for a user to pick from is Agent Mode in Excel.

From my perspective this would though make the message about Claude being a choice for Microsoft 365 Copilot users much easier to convey and demonstrate.

What do you think? Would you like to see Claude on the chat model selector?
