Copilot Takes the Wheel: Smarter Meeting Management Comes to Outlook

Copilot is going to be able to take more control of helping to manage your meetings in Outlook.

Seamless support for meeting creation and management is a feature that many Microsoft 365 Copilot users have been clamoring for since the initial release of the product last year.

However, with better meeting planning and support integrating with Copilot Chat in Outlook and features like this one that will allow you to flex your regularly scheduled 1-on-1s based on availability, it seems that much needed AI-infusion into our Outlook calendars is imminent.

Frankly, with the arrival of Agent Mode in both Word and Excel, it feels like Outlook is missing out. The meeting planning and scheduling process is a perfect set of tasks for an agentic approach, and a "Scheduling Agent" that lives in your Outlook AND Teams, proactively dealing with conflicts, coordinating with external calendars, and making sure meeting resources are shared, would be the perfect pairing of AI and Microsoft's apps.

Overall, this is now heading in a really positive direction, with many useful (and long waited for) features coming online to support meeting planning. But there remains a huge opportunity here for Microsoft to eliminate the pain in what remains one of the stickiest problems of modern work: calendar management.
